Project Summary
Summary of scope:
The proposed renovation to the Hogg Memorial Auditorium (HMA) includes the replacement and upgrade of major building systems such as mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Additionally, the renovation will address the building envelope by replacing the existing roof, and updating aesthetic elements such as seating, soft goods, and finishes. The renovation will include restroom, life safety, and accessibility upgrades for compliance with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Life Safety Code and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)/Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) requirements.
Project location: HMA is located in the heart of campus, Northwest of the UT Tower and Flawn Academic Center.
Project Impacts
Pedestrian impact: Pedestrian walkways on the North side of HMA will be closed during construction and access will be routed through the West side of HMA or around the BIO greenhouse. Pedestrian access in the service drive will be closed during February and March of 2022. ADA access to the North entrance of Flawn Academic Center will not be impacted.
Traffic impact: The service drive between HMA and FAC will be closed during February and March of 2022 in order to renovate the underground utility lines.
Bicycle impact: Bike racks located on the West side of HMA will be unavailable during construction. University Unions and the project team will explore alternate locations with PTS.
Parking Impact: ADA parking spaces on the East side of HMA will be impacted until March 2023.
